A LoveSeat for Elizabeth

What a fun project and great piece of furniture one of those super well made good quality pieces that just needed a little update.

Here she is with a brand new look Elizabeth chose a Toile from Waverly with a check and a floral to mix things up abit.
I decided to make it reversible. I think the floral is perfect for spring/Summer and the toile is great for a fall/winter look.  either way I'm very happy with her new look.
Have a great rest of the week!
Also I am booked until the middle of June Please contact me
if you would like to get on my calender.

A Chair for The Junk Bonanza

look at what I found at the local thrift store!  I love the shape of this chair cute little curved wings and petite arms and its a rocker to boot.

I had to take a picture of the legs in the front they are wheels the back legs are not, hubby says that it's so you can lift up the back of the chair and wheel it where ever you want. so clever.
                                                                          Before
here is the after picture I found the fabric at Mills End  its a great Chris Stone print a grey/taupe pattern on a creamy background  that I paired with a quilted taupe solid fabric for a little added detail

                                                                              After
A kick pleat and a zipper in the back for easy removal.  This fabric washes up beautifully!
This Chair will be available for sale at the Junk Bonanza I'll be there with Claire at the Hog Shed booth on Thursday the 18th.
Hope to see you there

A Simple slip for Susan

I'm back from a great vacation and getting caught up on blog posts that should have been done before I left. This is a love seat for a client that wanted a super simple slipcover that would be easy easy easy to take off an wash alot because in her words " I will be eating on it and don't want to worry about spilling anything"

We used a simple natural duck cloth and made it even simpler by not even having to put a zipper in it because of  the narrow square arm's.

sweet and simple got to love that!
Have a great weekend.
I'll be back next week with a couple of other projects I'd like to share.

Bedspreads and Denim

Well here is the latest creation or re-creation I should say  and the last chair that I will be offering at the shop .  this is one of the chairs that I have had around for awhile .
I took some time to do some shopping around some of our local vintage shops with a friend and found a great old chenille bedspread that was in almost perfect condition  .. not enough to do a whole slipcover with but enough for a little combo pack.
The inside and seat of the chair as well as a little side pocket are constructed of the bed spread and  the rest is a white denim that I picked up at Joann fabrics on sale

I used the trim of the bedspread for the skirting and lined the bedspread part of the slipcover.
have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

Chairs and Pillows for that Shop

I got these great parsons chairs from a friend at a great price so I thought they would be fun to put together. The only must was that they needed to have a skirt that went to the floor because of the legs being upholstered
I found this great Autumn brown colored Linen and dressed it up with black grommets and black ribbon tie for the back to keep the whole thing nice and snug.
and some more pillows for the shop too, as they seem to be good sellers right now.   I love them because they are such great reminders of Gods work and His word.
Have a great weekend.

When a Curtain is no longer a Curtain

I was getting ready for another sale and realized that I needed a piece for the shop.
I've had this parsons chair ( sorry no before picture)  sitting around my shop for quite some time
it was in great shape but I wanted to dress it up a little bit.
I had purchased some Rachell Ashwell curtains at target a while ago that did not work out in my home and I just didn't wa
nt to take them back so they too have been sitting around my shop.
so I made them into a slipcover for this chair.

just a simple gathering in the back with a tie to keep everything snug.

There she is all finished up. This chair did make its way to the sale and has sold. Thank you to its new owner for your purchase.
Thanks for stopping.
and have a great rest of the week

The Chair that never was

It's been awhile since I have visited this little space of mine, that's not because I've been sluffing off, really!
This is a chair that I did for the shop last month, I was really pleased with the way that it turned out that is, until I went to unload it from the truck and found that it had what appeared to bleach marks all over the fabric they were so faint I didn't even see them until I was out in the bright sunlight.  I have not idea how they got there, so .... I decided that I would try and bleach the whole thing well..... that didn't work so I thought I'd dye the slipcover a deep brown and that didn't work either. so I ended up tossing the whole thing in the trash!!!!

oh yeah and did I mention that I lined the whole thing too. oh well I'm glad I got a couple of pictures of it before I tried to "fix" it.
Thanks for Stopping by  and I really am going to get better about posting projects.  Big plans for this New Year, Happy 2013!
