Taking some time off

A year to be exact!

I have been toiling for quite some time now and have decided that I need a break from the slipcovering scene. I'm just not having fun with anymore so I thought taking a brake from it would help me decided if I just needed a little break or if this chapter of my life is closed. So, 1 year is the plan. Thank you to all of my clients and to the shop owners that have helped make my business what it has been over the past several years.
I look forward to what is around the next corner.

A great chair I mean great bones and so comfortable! but the stripes had to go. Barb found this chair and footstool that were not a set, at a Thrift store.

She wanted to give a new look and opted for something neutral. I was in total agreement as I am all about neutrals since I love changing my decor for the seasons. This was the ticket!

This color fabric went with almost every pillow I sat on the chair ( again I thought I had more pictures ) anyhow I was so pleases with how it turned out

oh yeah and for those stripes, It took black out drapery lining to hide them but there is no sign of them now.
I was so happy to get a call from Barb after she got the chair home to tell that she Loved the chair and it went perfectly everywhere she put it. yahoo!!

I've Figured it out!

Well, finally about a month after I got my new "smart" phone, with the help of a very patient son I have figured out how to get pictures that I've taken with my phone onto my computer! I really have been working.

anyhow.... here is one of my November projects and I really thought I had taken more pictures. There were six of these chairs these 4 and then 2 captains chairs. Amy chose white linen and a pretty robins egg blue print.

Of course a little extra detailing on the back since with dinning chairs you see more of the back than the front.
I will be posting the rest of my November projects this week!

A Couch for Carmella

Ruffles

A great couch for a favorite client, she wanted a relaxed fun ruffly slipcover for a great couch that she found recently. A perfect fit for her Florida home with frayed ruffles around all of the cushions as well as on the skirt

yes that's right no hemming just leave it raw and let it fray out I love the way that it turned out and love love love the back. I think its the perfect contrast to the rufflie front

and I got to work with one of my favorite fabrics, linen its just my all time favorite to work with

A wider shot of the back before I finalized the back. oh and wooden buttons for the closures beautiful!
Note: lots of trial runs on this one as I did not know how everything would work with leaving the ends to fray so I ended up making up little sample pieces and washing them lots of extra little stringies after the first washing as expected but very few on the second washing so it was a go. As for the wooden buttons on the back they were marked " dry clean only " so I tested one out in the wash before I used them on the slipcover I washed as normal on a scrap of the linen hot water bleach dried in he dryer the whole works I wanted to make sure the buttons would not discolor the fabric and that they would hold up to the harshest laundering ... and yup they did great.

Here he is (my sweet grandson) at his birthday party he is two now ... need I say more!

he is busy busy busy I had taken my slipcovers off the dinning room chairs for a couple of weeks and he found them to be the perfect canvas for his art work! its just chalk and you would think I could get it out but NO!

so the slipcovers are back where they are suppose to be~

Recently I had a friend ask me if I could do a reupholstering job for a client that she had met threw her store and although I don't do upholstery I gave it a shot

I love the fabric that was chosen and I think it turned out cute. The arms will be added on later by the client.

Fun Fall Chair for the Hog Shed using a fun muted fall fabric. This is what the chair looked like before it's Re-Creation,

This is a great outdoor fabric from P Kaufman It washes up beautifully and is a great weight
fabric to work with for slipcovers. They really are making great outdoor fabric these days
its so nice and soft not that plasticie feel that it used to have.

A simple back this time with just a zipper up the side and a simple kick pleat skirt.

and some pillows inspired by this fabric that will also be available at the Hog Shed's September sale
The Pillows are made using recycled wool blankets!

Gone Green

Diane has gone from blue to green that is this is the before of a very comfy wing back chair that
she found at a thrift store, it was in very good condition with the exception of the arms.

Diane showed up at the shop with some great green fabric and this what we ended up with
I'm really happy with the way it turned out

She also had me slipcover a footstool

Working in the shop Just a little bit these beautiful summer day's. A fun print that I picked up at Hancock Fabrics I love the Color combo on this one. unfortunately I did not pick up enough fabric to match the pattern but I like it anyway.

New Chairs for Kathy

Another fun project for a client that had some great chairs that needed a little bit of an update.
The Before~ The After~ This is actually a great textured neutral fabric ( I should have taken a close up of the texture )

There was however a challenge with this chair or set of chairs as there are two of them. The Challenge was I had about 5 yards of the pretty fabric to make TWO slipcovers with so I combined a cream colored duck cloth

I used the duck cloth for the pipping, insides of kick pleats and the back panel along with a little boarder at the very bottom of the skirt. I really like the way it turned out just so soft and classy!

Next was this little guy or gal I should say. She's seen better days but structurally she's in great shape

So we Slipped her in this cute stripe .

buttons in the back ... this time their only for show. I ended up putting a zipper at the side so that the slipcover could be removed easily.

So that's what's been happening in my shop this week.

Ready for the Shop

I Finished up my the Chair that I started while my sewing machines were getting serviced. I am pleased with the way the one turned out and it truly is stunning in person. I'm not sure why it doesn't photograph very well

I used the contrasting fabric for the under side of the cushion and piping.

Painted the legs black

and didn't do anything special to the back. I felt the fabric had enough going on that it didn't really need anything else.

This chair also comes with a cute foot stool that I didn't get a decent picture of.

Sharing some of my Process

Since I have received quite a few emails about Slip covering I thought I'd share with you some of my process. This is a Chair that I am doing for one of the shops that I sell threw which is the only way that I advertise my business at this time. 1~ Acquire Chair that is in good solid condition free of major stains and any odd smells. I vacuum out all the cracks and crevices ( you'd be surprised at what I've found in them ) 2~ Acquire fabric that inspires me!!

3~ fill out my project worksheet with cost of materials and time spent on project so that I can come up with a fair price for the finished project.

4~ for this Chair since the back is heavily tufted I cut up little pieces of batting and spray glued them into the wholes

5~ Then I spray the whole back with the glue and attach a thick batting to the back

and tack it at the edges with a quick running stitch

6~Next I measure all the parts and pieces of the chair

and make a pattern for the cushion

7~ Now I cut all my fabric to the measurement specified and take a moment to be thankful that the ice is almost melted off the lake ( did I mention that its been a loooong winter?)

The only other thing that I actually make a pattern for it the arm fronts This eliminates any pinning when I put the arms together.... More on that later.

Now every thing is ready for me to start sewing

This week while I wait for my Sewing machine's to be serviced I get to play on this old beauty that my sister in law picked up for me at a garage sale a couple of years ago I took it in to my local sewing machine repair guys to have them go threw it and get it running good as new they were even able to order a manual for it so that I would know how to use and thread it properly. I have to say I love the way this old thing runs, it's supper solid!! and although I don't think I would want to put together an entire slipcover with it I'm having fun

Another Slipcover and a Confession.

Well here is the Slipcover that I just finished for a sweet client and yes it was another one of those projects done with fabric that was toooooo thick I mean it worked but boy are my hands and back sore when I finished up with This project. Oh well its done and my client was happy with the end result. Don't you just want to curl up in that chair? Oh yeah and for the confession.... I SUCK at kick pleats! or at least I did, I could never get them even I would pin and measure and pin and measure bit since I don't have a walking foot that I can use with piping, things would always shift and never end up where I wanted them and with kick pleats you really need them right where you need them.
Well let me just tell you that this is no longer a problem for me because of these sweet little babies

yup, Angie over at Sew it Yourself Slipcovers has the perfect tool! it worked like a dream.

I just cut my skirt out in one long strip and then pleated as I came to my corners. Perfect perfect!! I cant wait to try these out on a knife pleated skirt.

A New Look for Marridee

Once again I did not take before pictures !!! but here are the afters. a sweet swivel rocker for a new grandbaby on the way I love the color and the print

and buttons down the back too.

Although this project turned out well the fabric that was chosen by my sweet client was too heavy so it was difficult to work with. This was not her fault and certainly not the first time this has happened, I'm just having a really hard time explaining to my clients what fabrics are appropriate for slipcovers as most of my consultations happen via email or phone. Any suggestions out there????

Getting a little personal on this post as I am sending you greetings from my very own home, decorated for the Holidays

I Always have fun decorating a little bit differently each year for Christmas. This year its red and white all the way.

And yes there is a newly slip covered couch "in White" The Couch I got in trade from my daughter as this beast would not fit in her new apartment.

I found a couple of 10.00 dollar throws at walmart and made some new pillow covers from an old curtain that I had saved. Really the only other thing that I purchased new was the sweet little cardinals that are sitting on my tree. ( I say this for me, not you ) I always end up spending too much on decorations and I'm trying to tone it down abit. I think I did pretty well this year.

Yes I'm still here, in the shop and trying to get ready for Christmas Too. Thought I'd share some cushions that I redid before Thanksgiving. This is the before. Here is the after. My Client had these done for her son. They wanted to masculine them up a bit. As I understand they are the cushions to a wicker couch and love seat set.

I really like the way they turned out I realize now that I should have set them up for the picture. oops .

A Cottage Cutie

I've been busy out in the studio lately and finally remembered to take pictures this time! This was my latest project A love seat, office chair and a cushion on a trunk ( that I forgot to take a picture of ) here is the before of the love seat and since I took the picture in the after noon you can see that the sun was shinning that day making for a crummy picture ... sorry Here is the office chair completed with the new cottage/vintage look, oh yeah that was the request from my client since she didn't want to do the fabric shopping she laid out her list of requests and I was to do my best to come up with something great! this made me a bit nervous cause you know how these things go ... when you are looking for something specific well that's when things can get very frustrating. I was lucky this time though. Here was the list

1~ she loves yellow so there had to be yellow
2~ a vintage look
3~ A cottage look mixing fabrics
4~ accent colors reds and green
5~ floral
6~ stripes
7 ~buttons please

I am happy to report it only took 2 trips to the fabric store to find this combination and I love love the way that it turned out.

I have to say these are my very favorite projects to work on. lots of colorful fabrics and the freedom to be creative. Don't get me wrong I love my white slipcovers I just don't have as much fun putting them together.

Changing it up for Fall

I love painting my entry way wall this gorgeous orange for fall. It warms up the whole feel of the house with a rich and full color.

OK so I'm very happy with this little gal. I really miss working with the darker colors of fall. I found this chair at a garage sale. I really love the chairs with the pretty legs

and she's got them. so I picked her up and found some great fabric

oh yeah I mixed it up just a bit with a fun stripe for the outside

The paisly fabric is not showing up as dark as it is in person I think there is too much sun comming in threw the window!

Oh yeah here is her before shot... she is sitting patiently in the back row waiting for her "Make over" She is the one with the peach and green stripes.

Junk Bonanza Chair

Well Junk Bonanza is almost here and I am finally getting started on some things to help fill in Claire's booth thus... this cute little number I love the legs and arms on it so I thought I'd try doing something new ( for me anyway ) I've not done one of these chairs with the exposed arms before.

I'm very happy with the way that it turned out although it did take awhile for me to figure out how to do that little bit around the back of the arm where I have the two buttons

All in all it was a good project I learned a lot! ( and still have most of my hair!! )

Here is the final before and after ( looks like I turned a boy into a girl huh! )

Yesterday I was able to work most of the day in the shop. I got a gift done for DD#2's birthday that is coming up in a couple of weeks. A set of fun patio chairs for her new apartment that has a little balcony.
The chairs I got for free on the side of the road. They were white I used a brown spray paint with texture in it. Then I found this great outdoor fabric a Jo~Ann's fabrics and made some reversible funky cushions

and I cute little table from Wal Mart for 15.00 love it, it's almost a perfect match

I was also able to finish up a set of Cushions for a client that has a very cool wicker couch.

Hope she loves them

I love the color and they are super soft to sit into.

Up Date on Autumn and Shop Stuff too!

Just wanted to thank all of you who sent emails and purchased the Totes to help Autumn and Steffan get back on their feet (Which they are) We are so blessed to have so many Friends and
Organizations that are out there that are so willing and able to help out. The biggest a surprise to me was the way that our local Wal Mart stepped up and helped out. They were on site and unloading a truck full of food clothes toys formula diapers and personal hygiene items as the Red Cross was setting up. Wow Right?
Also since Autumn works at Wal Mart, her manager let her know immediately that if her and her boy friend needed a couple of changes of clothing all they need do was to pick it out and take it to the service counter and it would be taken care of. wow again!

they are in a new apartment building and are the proud new owners of donated living room and bedroom furniture

I also wanted to sent out a special thank you to Claire at The Hog Shed The Hog Shed for her very generous gift of cash. Thank you Claire! and Thank you Mom you are always so generous.

Not all was Lost a lot of their dishes and a Kitchen items made it as most of the damage was water and smoke related also saved was most of Autumns artwork ( so very precious to her)

In the Shop... a couple of things that I put together for a client. I'm not sure if these fabrics are hers ( by this I mean that she is the creator of Thimbleberries Quilting fabrics) Very Cool I love the fabric for the footstool its little school houses and books too Cute!

first, here are the pictures of the chair that I finished this week
I'm happy with it and love this fresh fabric. Now onto important matters

the Fund Raising portion of this post ..... My Daughter Autumns' Apartment building was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday afternoon and with no renters insurance ( by the way its cheep get some if at all possible ) she is out everything except for some clothes and dishes. the fire its self did not get into the apartment but the smoke and water damage pretty much wiped them out.

So that being said I am trying to come up with some ways to help her get back on her feet.

I am selling these supper cute little summer clutche's numbers 1-4 for 21.00 each which includes shipping anywhere in the US

Well a picture of a chair that I slipcovered with her fabric. I was lucky enough to meet Amy Butler at our local (an hour away) quilt shop!!! I was so nervous. but I did it!! thanks to my good friend Deanna that reminded me that she was there. What a nice lady by the way, very sweet and down to earth. Great experience! Now I
have a signed picture for the workshop!

this is what I will be working on today. A nice big chair, she's super comfy and soon to have a nice clean bright look I chose this chair because of the scale of the pattern on the fabric this print is BIG it really needed a big chair.

A New Coffie Table

I spent some time on another personal project today and am finally happy with it. My first try (no pictures ) was the under slipcover made of an old bed spread and the fit was way to tight it looked like a giant mushroom! so I added a slipcover over my slipcover and I'm happy with it now I like the way that the other slipcover peeks out at the bottom

OK one more post before I get on that plane. I found this fabric the other day at Hancock's and just loved it. Slight problem though, there was only three yards of it left. That's OK! now I'm forced to be a bit more creative... Thus, Wrapped in Chocolate!! I love the look of this chair... A little modern, a little retro. actually when I bought the fabric I did not even have the chair yet.

So garage sale-ing I went. I found this diamond in the rough.

so now she has a new life and I'm hoping that some else will love her just as much as I do.

oh, the back side... lots of little brown covered buttons.

Slipcovering My Lampshades

Wow Its been awhile since I've posted. Well, I've been busy with some personal projects like this one and some projects for clients too (I'll be posting later in the week )
This is a slipcover that I made yesterday for my lampshade
this is the before they are just the plain white ones That I really love but I wanted a little change for spring

I found this fabric at Hancock's the other day and I just fell in love with it You know that feeling that you get when you just know that you have to have it but your not really sure what your going to do with it? well that's the feeling that I had about this fabric then I looked at the price tag, 29.99 a YARD! what!... I never spend that much on fabric but I had a 40% coupon and I settled for 1 yard

I got home and started looking around and thought LAMPSHADE covers.

I had enough fabric to do two lampshades and a small pillow

and since I know myself I knew that I could not make this a permanent thing so they are simply secured by a button at the very top back side of the shade

A fun Vintage chair with a new set of cushions this is one of Claire's latest finds. She needed a new cushion and pillow made for it... this is what we came up with, some of her fabric some of mine. Its a nice outdoor fabric that will hold up great.

O,K so before I get into my completed projects for the week I have to tell that I was the LUCKY girl to be chosen for an interview over at Threadneedle studio so if you would like to know a little bit more about how I get started doing what I do stop over and check it out. Angie has a great site with lots of inspiring work and fun posts. She really knows what she's doing!!

Now on to business. I'm getting closer to getting my to~do list from last week all finished up. This was one of the things that I had on it. A chair to slipcover for the The Hog Shed Done ~ 1 chair and I'm really liking it. the pillow was my inspiration for using the Drop cloth as the fabric

it was an old feedsack and the color and texture was really close. I wanted to do something fun on the back and I thought these extra large eyelets were perfect

Pictures not great but they are a brushed silver color

oh yeah and some other pretties for the shop too.

A Couple of Projects Compleated

First Project done: This is my completed projects Shelf. This one took way longer than I thought it would as I had to spray paint in the cold spring that meant I had to warm up the garage, spray paint, turn off the heat, open the garage door to air out and then repeat the whole process about six times! other than that all I spent on the project was about 14.00 the shelf was a left over the wallpaper that I used for the shelf lining was also left over the only thing I spent money on was a couple of cans of Cheep spray paint and the two big baskets at the top which was my biggest bargain these were 15.00 each at wal mart a couple of weeks ago but when I stopped in today to look for baskets they were on clearance for 5.00 each!!! SCORE.

Second Project done: window treatments and wall words also pretty cheap as I already had the fabric and the vintage lace that I put at the bottoms

I really like the way they turned out

Tooth Fairy Pillows for The Hog Shed

An idea that I have had for quite some time now and I've finally gotten around to putting a basket full of them together. Sweet little pillows that have a pocket on the front. In this pocket there is an envelope, actually there are two one for the tooth and one for "the tooth fairy" to switch out.

I was so excited when I found these little envelopes they have sweet little bits of fancy confetti in them, just enough to make it special .

These will be another addition to the Hog Sheds wonderful March sale. Hope to see you there!

Some things finished in the shop this week.
First is this rocker that was given to me. (of course I did not take any before pictures) it was a "lovely" wood with gold detailing and flecks on it. I was contemplating just tossing it because it's sometimes hard to sell rockers. I just couldn't throw it away it was supper solid and absolutely nothing wrong with it other than being ugly. sooo I had my girlfriend Susan paint and distress it for me (beautiful job Susan, Thank you) and I made a super soft Deep cushion for the seat along with a pillow that is filled with super soft down like filling along with fragrant lavender buds Perfect for a soothing and relaxing rock. This rocker will be available at the Buffalo Nickle in March.

Second: the chair that Needed a little redo on the store bought slipcover is re-Created into a full length slipcover

with button detailing on the back instead of the tie that was a bit big and sloppy looking.

Simple and clean... that was the clients requirements

I like.

Yes Whitey Tighty Slip covers again! I made new slip covers for my couch and chairs as I was not as happy with the others that I had made for fall. I'm very happy with the new ones and am lovin the Green that I picked out for my accent color. The Slip cover fabric was purchased before Christmas at Joann's Fabrics ( with coupon ) ! I decided to use a sport weight denim instead of a duck or canvas because I wanted a light wight fabric for the ruffles on the chairs. Its still plenty heavy enough and perfectly soft one I washed them up a couple of times

and I brought the pillows back. I may cover the cushions for the back of the couch later but for now I'm lovin my pillows

This is my new favorite fabric. I purchased only half a yard (at Joanns, with coupon ) so for 2.00 a new pillow is born. I recycled an old feather pillow by re-ticking it and adding dried lavender buds to it Its smells sooooo good.

Art in my Home

Art is a very big part of my home decor. Why? well because I love what does for us as people, the very act of creating is just an awesome feeling. Art is also what makes my home a very personal space because most of the art you will find in my home is from my own family's hands. This trio is just a collection that I acquired at garage and occasional sales. I have them because I love the green's in them.

The next two pictures are ones that my Mom painted. This first one is of her grandmother and grandfather that she painted from an old black and white photo that she was given by her sister

This is me. It was my Christmas gift last year. My Mother surprised all of us Kids (5) with portraits. Mom just started painting a year and a half ago. Wow

This is a set of pottery that my first daughter Amber did in high school I love the colors.

This is a picture that my son Shayne did while he was in high school he did it using only tiny little dots. I think its soooo cool

Side by side father and son art. love that One of the greatest things that I have done with some of their art is to have a couple of my favorite pieces professionally framed, a little expensive but I will never regret it~

This next piece was a gift from my brother in law last Christmas. Its is a Very big mosaic that he did. I just received it however, as it was traveling the country in an art contest for the VA where it took 1st place!! what a treasure.

Wrapping up the Year

In order of accomplishment I am sharing my last two projects of 2009 and I loved doing them both! First was a fun swivel rocker that I did for a client that bought the footstool to match at the Hog Shed. Sure wish I would have taken the darn before picture it was a lovely orange and brown plaid!!

Second was this Sweet set for my Friend Susan. This is the Christmas slipcover .... she is a lover of pink and had picked out this fabric for me to work with.

Love the way it turned out and so did she.

and of course buttons down the back .... she loves all things cute and cottagie.

as for my next post well ...... I seem to have lost my camera ya that's right, LOST !

Hubby and I went to California in the beginning of December and I think that it got lost somewhere between my sisters house and the Airport. so hopefully I will be able to replace it before to long.

In the Shop

Here are some of the things that I have been working on lately. Carmella dropped off some things that she wanted to be changed up a bit. This was a chair that was already white but upholstered in white (we all know how that goes) she wanted a slip cover in white that could be washed when needed. I did two of these chairs Then there where bar stools that needed a new look so we dressed them up a bit with oatmeal linen along with white piping and buttons.

There where also lots and lots of window cushions and pillows out of this same fabric.

Then finally a fun little project. A vintage doll High chair.

Carmella picked out this great fabric for a new cover and I think it was the perfect fit!

yup this was the old cover. well past its prime but much loved and I'm sure it served many years of fun play time.

Late Night and Early Morning Knits

Finally finished up with my Fall Riding Coat by Debbie Bliss and I'm really happy with it. I did make quite a few modifications to it ( good learning experience) I have to say that this is a warm one and really fun to wear.

also made up a pair of "Those Mitts" that I was going to give as a birthday gift but realized I had already made a pair for the person last year now they sit in my gift stash.

and then a quick little knit for my sons friend they bought the yarn and I turned it into a hat.

Business is good!

well as is typical for this time of year business is booming and I am all booked up until beginning of next year! This is one on the projects that I just finished up with and I love the way it turned out. Stephanie always seems to find fantastic fabric. oh yeah and my couch. I finished this up a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to taking some pics . of it. I was working on doing a more relaxed fit with this piece. I usually make my slipcovers more fitted but every once in a while I will get a request for a more casual fit. I'm happy with it although I have to say that I think for my self I like the more fitted look

I do however love the fabric that I found it's a Ralph Lauren print on a heavy canvas (perfect for all all the fall colors in the house right now) oh yeah and I found it for under 6.00 a yard!!!!! . although I must say I am kinda missing my white.

One thing that I did do on this one is to remake the back cushions. when I purchased the couch a few years back for 100.00 at a local thrift shop I picked it because it was super sturdy and the cushions were down filled, but the back cushions were really short so I tucked them away and used pillows for the back which was fine but they always needed fluffing so I remade the original ones adding some height to them and I really like them now

and you know me I couldn't resist some cuteness on the back!!

There it is, the finished chair! I really loved the fabric that Kristy picked out it was soooo soft and comfortable and the color was the perfect neutral that would work in just about any room. I was so happy to give this chair a little makeover as it was one of those supper comfy pieces. Kristy said she's even fallen asleep in it. Well...If you can fall asleep in a chair then you know its a good one !!

In The Shop

Getting some things done in the shop. Both for me and my clients. I am still looking for a desk but until I find one I'm using the table from the porch (which is closed for the winter) Along with a white linen slip covered chair that is way too short for the table but it looks cute right?

Some of my favorite pinks on my shelf that I got from The Hog Shed along with another not so cute shelf that I got from the garage but I did put it to work in the shop this is the before

and this is the after as I painted it white and covered the shelves with wallpaper and had hubby build some wracks for pipping and zippers on the spool

and then I made a pocketed canvas holder for scissors zipper pulls and tape. This all sits right next to my sewing machine so that I can sew the piping right off the roll. Its been working really well and it looks so much nicer then the dirty ol gray shelf.

Last weeks project (the before) come back and see what we did with it!!

A Little Something 4 Me

As I was looking for a couple of Christmas gifts on Etsy the other day I ran across this seller. She makes the cutest recipe boxes( Gifts) and address files, the something for me part of this post. I convo-ed her and asked if in addition to the lettered tabs would she make the months of the year tabs also. Now I have address and birthdays all in one place. The cutest file ever! I love having a card for each Birthday. I can put all kinds of info on the card, sizes, favorite color what I gave, ect... Speaking of Birthdays, a gift for a nephew who's favorite color is .... yup, blue!

I found the pattern for the hat here and used size US 7 needles and for the yarn I used two strands of computer died stripes sock yarn held together. Super fast and fun knit!

Working on some things around the house. I have my fall decorations out and even did a little painting Well actually my mom did the painting while she was here. We decided that my entry/accent wall needed to be orange for fall this year. I've wanted to do this for a couple of years now but have not because I know that I won't keep it this color for long but I love the way that it looks for fall ( yes I already know what color it will be for Christmas! )

Oh and one of my favorite Garage sale finds this summer is this basket that I picked up for .50 cents. It works perfectly on my table love it cause its low and I don't have to move it off when we are visiting or eating.

I also finally got around to making the new slipcovers for my dinning room chairs.

now all I really have to do is to finish my slipcover for the couch hum... maybe today!

Progress

Yes Progress has been made I finished up the Duvet cover . and am happy with the results and I did get some things made up for The Hog Shed and I really had fun with it. I do love the changing of seasons. I get so excited when I get to work with a new color pallet and am having fun with the deep earthy colors of fall..

I put together a fun over sized footstool along with some matching (Huge ) floor pillows with handles.... that I love!! I also made a warm winter throw and some reversible table runners.

but I must say that I had the most fun with these fun fall totes with matching zippered makeup bags.

This week I will be.... working on a duvet cover for a special little client Who's Mother purchased this throw from me a while ago. I was lucky enough to be able to shop my girlfriend Deanna's Fabric Stash. why didn't I take my camera with me to show you her stash? Its huge!!

Finally Finished

Well I finally finished the pullover that I have been working on forever and no its not perfect and yes I will wear it proudly ( cause I worked hard on it ) OK maybe Ill only where it at night but I will wear it!! I was talking with the gal at the yarn shop and this is how she blocks her sweaters and I thought it was so brilliant that I had to share it with you. see how you can get every thing to line up perfectly. I simply bought one of the cutting boards and then laminated it with some clear shelf liner stuff.

and a shot of our 4 generations before Mom left I so wanted to get a professional one done by my dear Friend Deanna but schedules where so crazy when Mom was here.

Yup Mom just left after spending 2 weeks with her FIRST great grandbaby JT and there was lots of lovin in this house!! we also got a couple of things done around here that have been on the back burner for awhile. See the wall with two clocks and no explanation.... well its been that way for about 3 months now

but we fixed that, all my family lives in California and we live here in Minnesota so I like to have the time for both on the wall. its a nice reminder of them

Getting a little headstart on fall

I'm working on a little redo for the living room for fall so I decided to put together a little sampler to see if I liked the colors together. I used the left over insulation beads from Autumns bean bags for a new bed for Hanna This is Hanna our family Pooch. She's pretty sweet most of the time.

This weekend I Started and Finished this sweater for JT ! I have been working on my Pullover for quite some time now and was really in need of a quick knit, I didn't think it would be so quick though. Isn't he the cutest guy ever!! I've had this pattern printed off for quite awhile now ( I got it here ) I just didn't have the yarn so when I went to Joann's I looked to see if I could find anything that I liked... and I did!! This was such a quick knit and Yes I will be making another one for a Christmas Gift.

Now back to the pullover~ after I make JT a hat to match his sweater that is!

The Sale Starts Today!

Yup just getting ready for the sale ( I work there today ) I will be armed with new aprons for
The Hog Shed . Claire thought it would be a good idea to have something to identify the workers and I thought it would be nice to have a few extra pockets Plus I got to use some of my letter stamps again~ Love that. Hope she likes them. As for me, I used mine in the work shop yesterday and loved it. I'm always leaving my seam ripper, marking pin, scissors in places that take for ever to find, now they are right in my pockets.

I did a couple for the shop last fall and they all sold, so I thought I'd kick it up a bit and fill it with all the things that I like to have in my Knitting bag So here you have it at Supper sturdy bag made of heavy upholstery fabric filled with a zippered bag for all those knitting notions, tape measure stitch holders and markers ect. a needle holder for both regular and double pointed needles, and a small projects bag, perfect for socks, washcloths or what ever.

all my bag will come with hand made coordinating Stitch Markers that my Daughter Autumn makes with her super Beading Skills!!

All bags are one of a kind ( not the greatest picture~ sorry )

Does your iron look like this? Mine used to when I used regular starch. but I have found something better. Yup now my iron looks like this! nice and clean. I love that I don't have to run my iron into the house and clean it up every couple of days thanks to this new product Its called best press. I found it at Hancock Fabrics and love it. It works great. and no messy iron

this is the label on the back and so far it holds true the only thing that I do not agree with is that I don't think it smells "Wonderful" its a little chemically when you first spray it from the bottle.

But other than that its great stuff.

Getting ready for the next sale at The Hog Shed, I thought OK one more light spring summer feeling chair before we get into our fall mode This is the before ( trying to get better at taking the before's) I think I caught a piece of fuzz in the picture though Here are the afters I'm really pleased with the way that this turned out It was a lot of pattern match!!! but I love the clean soft look of it and its just a little bit modern This is a gorgeous Linen fabric print so I decided to detail it in a solid off white linen

Well. there he is. My Grandson !! Mama and Baby are doing great. He is the most precious thing in the world I just can't believe he's here and I get to hold him and love him all the time well.... when Mama and papa aren't holding and lovin on him.

So far he's a pretty sleepy guy but I know that will all change soon enough

Mama did great through the whole thing She's amazing!

I Think I'm Nesting

OK so the truth of the matter is that I am always nesting but since Amber DD#1 is due any day now Its just feels like nesting in the truest since of the word. Thursday I went Shopping in St.Cloud and that means fun shopping yarn shops fabric outlets and Crafts Direct and the big Thrift store. I go for my Business... or so I tell myself. But more often than not I find something that I fall in love with. This time it was fabric for my new pillows (they are showing up kinda of yellow but they are more of a green ) see them there on the couch and chair? well I eeked out 5 pillows using 1-3/8 yards of that main fabric. So yeah, when I got home on Thursday I did not eat or sit down to watch TV or clean or talk on the phone ( OK so I did a little bit of that ) but I went right out to the studio and made pillows. Then I washed slipcovers and cleaned and reorganized the living room.

And then on Friday I went out and purchased something fun for my front step. I found this at Wal Mart

This is a big herb planter with regular Basel and Italian parsley and see that Tiny stuff? its boxwood basil! I'd never seen it before

I Sure would like to meet My Grandson! do you think he'll like the new pillows and Planter ;0)
